FAQ’s

What does a doula actually do?

A doula provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, labor, and the immediate postpartum period. I help you understand your options, practice comfort techniques, create your birth plan, support your partner, and stay grounded and confident during labor.

I do not provide medical care — instead, I support you while your medical team focuses on clinical safety.

Do you replace my partner?

Absolutely not. I support your partner, I don’t replace them.

Many partners feel pressure to “do everything right.” I help guide them with hands-on comfort techniques, encouragement, and suggestions so they can stay present and connected instead of overwhelmed. My role is to strengthen your support team, not take anyone’s place.

Do you work with doctors?

Yes! I work alongside OBs, midwives, and nurses to support your birth experience.

Medical providers focus on the health and safety of you and your baby. I focus on your comfort, emotional support, and helping you understand your options. When everyone works together, it creates a calm and collaborative birth environment.

When should I hire a doula?

The earlier the better! Many families hire their doula in the first or second trimester to ensure availability and receive full prenatal support.

However, it’s never “too late.” I’ve also supported families who reached out in their third trimester. If I have availability, I’d love to support you!

Do you attend home and hospital births?

Yes. I attend both home and hospital births.

Whether you’re birthing at home, in a birth center, or at a hospital, my role remains the same, to provide continuous support tailored to your preferences and environment.

What happens if you’re unavailable?

While I make every effort to be on call for my clients around their due date, birth is unpredictable. In the rare case that I am attending another birth or have an emergency, I have a trusted backup doula that you will meet who shares a similar philosophy of care.

You will always have support!!

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. I understand that doula support is an investment, and I strive to make it accessible. I offer flexible payment plans and accept multiple forms of payment.

If you have questions about pricing or insurance coverage, please ask in the intake form. I’m happy to help you explore your options!
